Storage for Recorders

Our Hard drive prices include fitting into one of our DVR recorders. Once fitted we format the hard drive then configure the DVR with basic settings so it arrives plug & play. Just connect the cameras and you are recording.

We only sell AV grade hard drives designed specifically for intensive applications such as CCTV systems. Cheaper computer drives are not designed to run 24/7 and have 100% data churn.

A conventional hard drive as fitted to your computer is only designed for short bursts of use, it is also only designed to be operational for a maximum of 8 hours a day with regular standby periods. A CCTV system needs to record 24 hours a day with the hard drive constantly operational. This places a greater workload on the drive. Images are constantly being stored and replaced as the drive over-writes it's self so the whole of the drive fills up then recycles itself as older footage is replaced.

With all this in mind, we have worked closely with drive manufacturers to ensure we use the best possible choice of drives. We also carry out long term tests using their drives in our DVRs. With the advent of HD CCTV, this has never been more important. More data means the hard drive has to work even harder and drive sizes need to increase. HD 1080P CCTV generates 5 times more data than standard definition CCTV. We work particularly closely with Seagate in the UK and are currently running long term tests on their 5TB and 6TB drives.
